Senior Research Analyst – Europe Energy and Climate

Rhodium Group is recruiting a Senior Research Analyst to join the company’s International Energy and Climate team. Location is flexible within the following Rhodium locations: Paris, France; Washington, DC; New York, NY; or Oakland, California.

Position Description

Rhodium is looking for a Senior Research Analyst to join our International Energy and Climate team, a group of policy experts, economists, energy modelers and data engineers that help stakeholders and decision-makers understand and address some of the most challenging global energy and environmental issues. As a core member of this team, you will lead efforts to track and evaluate energy and climate policy developments across Europe. This role will provide critical input to Rhodium’s global modeling, including regular forecasts of key energy and greenhouse gas emissions metrics, assessing the impact of emerging energy technologies and new market designs, as well as important geopolitical developments.

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead the tracking and evaluation of European climate and energy policy.
  • Collaborate with Rhodium’s international modeling team to design and execute analysis of potential policy pathways affecting energy and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across Europe.
  • Provide expert advice on Europe’s climate and energy developments for corporate and investment sustainability leaders.
  • Mentor and manage junior policy analysts.
  • Write and contribute to Rhodium reports and research notes.
  • Communicate research findings to decision-makers and the public.

Qualifications

Eligible candidates will have the following qualifications:

  • Native or Professional level English, both written and spoken is required.
  • Master’s degree (or PhD) in economics, public policy, environmental science, or related disciplines, plus 4+ (or 2+) years of experience working on energy or climate policy.
  • Proven knowledge of energy/electricity market and policy dynamics in Europe, and familiarity with a wide range of emerging clean energy technologies.
  • Experience collaborating with energy systems modelers on policy analysis and scenario design preferred.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills and public engagement experience.

Location and Travel Requirements

  • The preferred location for this role is Paris, France or Washington, DC.
  • Occasional international travel (<10%)
