Understanding if China is reforming its economy is critical for business leaders and investors. Important questions loom regarding whether the Chinese government is becoming more open to foreign trade and investment, pursuing structural reforms needed to sustain economic growth, and ensuring fair and market-based competition between domestic and foreign companies. Since 1978, China has made great strides in economic reform, generating both growth opportunities and also disruptions at home and abroad. However this process is far from complete, and the challenges remaining are complex. Rhodium Group founder Daniel Rosen will discuss China’s economy, the state of the government’s reform agenda, and the resulting impact on relations with the U.S. and other countries. He will also present the latest iteration of the China Dashboard, an interactive web dashboard launched in 2017 by the Asia Society Policy Institute and Rhodium Group tracking China’s progress toward its self-defined economic reform goals.
