The Belt and Road initiative and China’s global economic vision

Location:

Virtual

Rhodium Group Associate Director Agatha Kratz will participate in an OMFIF event on December 9th at 1530 (London time) exploring China’s Belt and Road Initiative.  In carrying out its flagship foreign-policy effort, China plans to spend over one trillion dollars on infrastructure touching over one hundred and thirty countries, and even beyond into the Arctic and outer space. While Beijing claims this is in the name of promoting global development, Washington is warning of a path to global dominance. Ms. Kratz will discuss Chinese commercial lending, the Debt Service Suspension Initiative and sustainability with Jonathan Hillman, Senior Fellow, Economics Program, and Director of the Reconnecting Asia Project at the Centre for Strategic & International Studies, whose book “The Emperor’s New Road: China and the Project of the Century”  was released earlier this year. Moderating the discussion will be OMFIF US Chairman Mark Sobel.
