USC and Stanford Symposium on Climate Change Policy and Transportation

Transportation is a major infrastructure sector of the economy. It is also the major source of growth in greenhouse gas emissions in California. It is therefore important that we determine the reasons for growth in these emissions and explore ways to curb them and in a cost-effective and equitable manner.

This Symposium will bring together researchers and policy-makers from within California to address these important questions. It will explore the behavioral motivations underlying the current reliance on fossil fuels, evaluate the economics of alternative technologies, and explore the design and potential effectiveness of policies to implement greenhouse gas emission reductions.

This event is being hosted by the Schwarzenegger Institute on the USC campus, and is being organized by the Institute in collaboration with Stanford University’s Energy Modeling Forum and is co-sponsored by METRANS and the USC Center for Sustainability Solutions.

Rhodium’s Emily Wimberger will moderate a panel on transportation policy with speakers Mary Nichols from CARB, Senator Kevin de León, and Fran Pavley.
