Rhodium’s Logan Wright Testifies Before the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission

Logan explained the structural nature of China's economic slowdown and its implications for the United States

On August 21, Logan Wright, Partner at Rhodium Group, testified before the US-China Economic and Security Review Commission. His remarks focused on four topics related to China’s economic slowdown and its implications for the United States; the underappreciation of China’s economic weakness, Beijing’s efforts to downplay its slowdown, the importance of the country’s financial system to its growth, and the interrelation between China’s property sector, local government debt, and the end of China’s credit expansion.

“Beijing is no longer an economic pacing threat or likely to overtake the United States in any significant measure of economic power in the next two decades, assuming US growth continues at roughly current rates.”
